Crib Stuffs
The best crib for baby is a boring one. The less stuff in or around the crib, the safer it is for baby. Also, stuff around the crib that is supposed to help a baby go to and stay asleep often does the opposite. Blankets, bumpers, stuffed animals, or special pillows hinder sleep and learning good sleep hygiene; they also provide excellent mechanisms to cover baby’s face and mouth while sleeping, causing a suffocation risk. A baby laying comfortably in a swaddle or sleep sack on top of a tight-fitting sheet in the crib allows for safe sleep and the start of healthy sleep habits. The more accoutrements around the crib (special lights, noise machines, auto rocker, etc.), the more baby will end up learning that they need to rely on these things for sleep rather than just using them as occasional helpers. The more boring the sleep, the better the eventual sleeper.
