Cup Feeding

Cup feeding is a relatively newish thing some parents are trying in the early months when baby is not breastfeeding to avoid “nipple confusion.”  Babies can feed from a cup if we need them to, but it is not super-efficient and a big pain in the booty for parents. The most common time that this is instituted is during the first few days of life, but babies don’t really feed that much anyway in the first few days. I am more okay with doing cup feeding if we have an older infant who is refusing bottles no matter what we do, and we need a second option for feeding for families when breastfeeding is not an option, like at day care or when parents go out of town for some well-deserved R and R.
