Diapers
Cloth vs disposable diapers—the age-old question.
After all this time, I still go back and forth on which to recommend. In actuality, the best diaper is no diaper, but that is not really possible nowadays. Cloth diapers allow for their reuse with washing, while disposable diapers are much more absorbent. After all is said and done, the cost and effect on the environment are pretty equal. Cloth diapers tend to not wick urine away as fast or as well as disposable diapers and can lead to more diaper rashes for kids with sensitive skin. On the other hand, parents will oftentimes leave kiddos in disposable diapers for longer due to their ability to hide messes better, which can also lead to diaper rashes. The biggest thing for me is that no matter which diaper you choose, try and apply a zinc oxide–based diaper cream with each diaper change and offer diaper-free time multiple times per day for baby to help avoid diaper rashes and to naturally dry out the skin and decrease the chances of fungal rashes.
