Omega - 3’s

The research on benefits of Omega-3’s for kids is fading.  In the early 2000's there was a growing body of case studies pointing to improved development of kids with high levels of fish in their diets, particularly from certain countries, and everyone sort of jumped on the band wagon assuming that it must be because of the Omega-3’s.  As it turns out, not so much; it has more to do with the all the nutrients in seafood put together.  The sum of that meta-analysis is in this paper. If you don't get a lot of fish or shellfish in your diet, then the baby DHA Omega-3's from Nordic Naturals can make up for some of those Omega-3's.

Same goes for breastfeeding reports and guidance from the WHO, which may have been a little premature in touting the benefits/need for supplementation-findings linked here.

In sum, it looks like sticking with eating actual fish, seeds, and legumes rather than manufactured supplements seem to provide the most benefit in the long term.
