Reading
We try not to worry too much about kids who learn to read a bit later than other kids. Would it be nice if every kiddo learned to read before even hitting kindergarten? Of course. But most kids who are given the right reading-promoting environment at home will learn to read during those first few elementary school years. Your job as parents isn’t necessarily instilling phonics early but reading as much as you can with your child/children to instill a lifelong love of reading. Where it is seen as not just this thing we have to do but something that brings a lot of fulfillment, wonder, and joy in the act itself. This also means putting down the smartphone when you are bored and picking up a real book or e-reader to show by example that reading is fun-damental with a capital FUN! The apple never falls too far from the tree.
